Support the Trailblazers Who Changed Our World — And Those Yet to Come

We are a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit on a mission to rewrite history — and the future.

For centuries, women have been behind some of the most life-changing innovations — from GPS and duct tape to cataract surgery, windshield wipers, the COVID vaccine, and even Ozempic. Yet their names have been left out of textbooks, museum halls, and national conversations.

At the National Center of Women’s Innovations (NCWI), we are shining a light on these forgotten pioneers — not only to give them the recognition they’ve long deserved, but to inspire the next generation of innovators.

Brainpower Has No Gender

Women Were Behind GPS, Duct Tape, Cataract Surgery, Windshield Wipers, COVID Vaccine, Ozempic
and thousands more life-changing innovations.

When girls don’t see women role models in STEM, they often don’t see themselves in those careers either. And when boys never learn about women’s contributions, they grow up with skewed perceptions of who’s capable of leading innovation.

That’s why we’re changing the narrative — through:

  • Traveling exhibits that bring untold stories to life
  • Hands-on STEM programs linked to real women innovators
  • Strategic school partnerships that ensure access for girls from underrepresented communities

This year, our Dr. Gladys West traveling exhibit — honoring the woman behind GPS — is captivating thousands across the country, encouraging youth to pursue education and STEM by showing them what’s possible.

May is National Inventors Month. What better time to stand up for the women who have driven innovation for centuries?

For just $180, you can sponsor a custom,  retractable recognition banner in your name, your family’s name, or your business — a visible, powerful statement that “Brainpower Has No Gender.”  It pops up and is 5′ by less than 3′ but oh so powerful.   Then it folds away for easy transport and storage.  Encourage others to join you in promoting women innovators.

Your banner sponsorship will help fund:

  • Expanded outreach to schools
  • Curriculum development
  • New exhibits highlighting more unsung women heroes

Our beta program is already underway at the Washington School for Girls (WSG) — the only tuition-free, independent, all-girls school in D.C. intentionally serving girls of color. With over 300 graduates and a 26-year legacy, WSG is the perfect partner for measuring the long-term impact of our work.

We’re building momentum with STEM developers, universities, corporations, and nonprofits — and with supporters like you.

Whether it’s $25 or $25,000, your gift helps rewrite history and open doors for future generations of women innovators.

Support for this exciting initiative builds daily. Join us in recognizing the brilliance of women and motivating girls to help the world with their innovative brainpower. Your contribution will impact progress for generations to come. If you would like to discuss a major donation, please outreach to jane@womensinnovations.org and let’s make it happen.
