Brainpower Has No Gender

Women Were Behind GPS, Duct Tape, Cataract Surgery, Windshield Wipers, COVID Vaccine, Ozempic
and thousands more life-changing innovations.

For centuries, women’s innovations have been unrecognized and undervalued.  Without these role models, young girls mistakenly don’t see themselves as capable of great innovations. Society misses out on the brilliant ideas these grown women might have contributed.

That is changing because of the work of the National Center of Women’s Innovations (NCWI).  We are developing strategically designed hands-on STEM programs related to specific women innovators that include inspiring stories about these women achievers and their struggles for success. With our targeted mobile exhibits and programming showcasing these forgotten women innovators, the public’s expanded perceptions of women as scientific and technology innovators will shift. Young girls will see themselves sitting beside boys to change the world for the better.

NCWI is assuring our programs reach a diversity of girls of all incomes and backgrounds.  Our beta-site is the Washington School For Girl (WSG) a 3rd-8th grade DC- faith based school. WSG is the only tuition-free, independent, all-girls school that intentionally serves girls of color in Washington, DC, and one of fewer than 15 in the United States. Over 300 WSG graduates have been propelled by its 26-year history and ongoing mentoring system.  Notably, WSG has longitudinal evaluation data that will enable NCWI’s program impact to be tracked. We have begun to form partnerships with other schools, STEM curriculum developers, corporations, public entities and not-for profits.

Support for this exciting initiative builds daily. Join us in recognizing the brilliance of women and motivating girls to help the world with their innovative brainpower. Your contribution will impact progress for generations to come. If you would like to discuss a major donation, please outreach to jane@womensinnovations.org and let’s make it happen.

“Both my mother and I are thrilled that the National Center of Women’s Innovations will focus public attention on the innovative achievements of women like my mother while using their achievements to inspire youngsters, especially girls, to pursue STEM careers. We whole heartedly endorse their long overdue efforts. “
