Our Goal is $100,000 by December 31, 2026

May 28 marks the International Day of Action for Women’s Health — a fitting moment for the National Center of Women’s Innovations to announce the launch of She Changed Everything: Women Innovating Health.

This new national initiative celebrates the women whose ideas, discoveries, inventions, advocacy, research, and leadership have transformed health — and inspires the next generation of innovators to imagine what they might change for the future.

She Changed Everything celebrates the scientists, physicians, nurses, engineers, researchers, public health leaders, caregivers, technologists, advocates, and innovators whose work has changed how we understand, protect, treat, and care for human life.

And this initiative is about more than honoring the innovators of the past. Through storytelling, education, programming, and community engagement, She Changed Everything will also spotlight today’s changemakers and inspire tomorrow’s innovators.

For generations, women have shaped the future of health, often without recognition, credit, funding, or visibility.

The 3-tiered approach

She Changed Everything connects storytelling, education, public engagement, and future-facing inspiration.

1. Youth Engagement & Learning

NCWI is developing classroom activities, discussion guides, educator prompts, and creative challenges that help young people connect the stories of women innovators to today’s most important health questions — and imagine their own role in the future of science, medicine, technology, advocacy, and care.

2. Database Expansion & Digital Storytelling

NCWI maintains the only database in the world dedicated to collecting the stories of women innovators. Through She Changed Everything, NCWI will expand the database to include more women whose work transformed health through science, medicine, technology, care, advocacy, public health, engineering, and leadership.

These stories will also be shared through social media, email, video, short-form profiles, and other digital content designed to make women’s contributions to health innovation more visible and accessible.

3. Public Programs & Community Engagement

NCWI will create virtual and in-person opportunities for engagement, including conversations, panels, community programs, and storytelling experiences. We even have a family-friendly 5K in the works for 2027… stay tuned!

Collectively, these three areas will honor the women who transformed health, elevate the innovators shaping it today, and inspire the next generation to imagine what they might change next.
